Supercars are a dream for many people. If you work hard enough to build up the money to buy one and have enough luck, this dream can become a reality. In this article, we look at some of the unique features of supercars.
Indicator switches or buttons
Most cars have a lever which turns the indicator on and off depending on which way you push the lever; up is for left, and down is for right. This has been redesigned in many supercars; instead of having a lever to control both indicators, they each get their own buttons, often mounted on the steering wheel. It can take some getting used to if you’re not familiar with the switches, but many people prefer the individual buttons over the leavers. It also makes the cockpit of the supercar look more luxurious and unique. Ferrari is a prime example of a supercar with individual indicator buttons mounted on the steering wheel.
Lifting fronts
A common problem with driving supercars on standard roads is the body is too close to the ground to take on bumps, uneven surfaces and slopes. To combat this problem, many supercars now include a lifting front that will prevent the nose of the car from scraping on the floor. This is great for anyone that likes to drive their supercar on normal roads and wants to keep it in great condition. The Ford GT is a good example of this feature, the nose lift on this supercar is almost instant, so you don’t need to worry about scraping and damaging your supercar.
Unique storage spaces
Supercars have very little storage; they’re designed primarily for speed, not practicality. However, there are some supercars that have unique storage solutions that can increase their practicality. The McLaren F1 has storage lockers situated just in front of the back wheel, hidden behind a body panel. This space is unique and valuable for those who want a supercar with extra space to store their shopping or gym bag. Other supercars also have unique storage solutions that utilise otherwise wasted space in the vehicle body to fit items the driver needs to carry.
Hidden features
Supercars need to look clean, luxurious and beautiful on the inside in order to appeal to buyers. Many practical features can be ugly and distract away from the look of the supercar. Therefore they’re often designed to be hidden within the dashboard and activated by pressing a certain part of the dash. A great example of this is the Porsche 911 which had hidden adjustable cup holders that were almost impossible to notice unless you knew they were there. If you’re looking for supercars for sale, ask about any hidden practical features of the interior cabin, you might be surprised.
Safety features
More power and higher top speeds mean an increased risk for the driver and any passengers. To reduce this risk, many supercars have the best safety features integrated into them. They include features such as advanced driver assistance systems, these systems continuously look for hazards on the road and will take over the driving of the car to avoid a hazard. Some supercars also have automated driving features that can keep the vehicle in the lane, drive around corners, brake, and accelerate to keep up with the traffic. These features are incredibly high-tech and innovative.
Scissor doors
Scissor doors are a commonly known feature that’s typically only found on supercars. Instead of opening outwards, the doors lift upwards to let the driver and passengers in and out of the vehicle. This catches attention and enables the driver to make an entrance. In addition, it’s also useful as the doors on these supercars can be very heavy. The automatic opening of the doors lets the driver and passengers focus on getting out and making an entrance. They’re also great in tight parking spaces as they won’t catch on other vehicles. Although most supercar drivers will avoid tight parking spaces, as it’s their car they’re worried about getting damaged.
Supercars are incredibly fast, beautifully designed and turn heads wherever you drive. They also have some great unique design features, such as the ones listed above, to improve the car’s style, performance and practicality.
